Conroe ISD Families

Earn PE credit. Pay the lowest rate.

ERA is an approved off-campus program for official Conroe ISD PE credit. Your kid trains on a real court with a real coach — and it counts toward their PE requirement instead of another period in the gym.

CISD-enrolled students also receive PRO membership pricing — $100/month instead of $175. That's the single biggest discount we offer on this program.

Why ERA

A real sport program, not a drop-in.

Coached progression twice a week, with the same group, all semester.

01

Coached by a pro

Led by ERA head coach Christian Tejada — not a volunteer, not someone's older sibling. Real instruction, every session.

02

Skill-based grouping

Kids are grouped by level inside the class, so a first-timer isn't drilling against a tournament player. Everyone plays at their level.

03

Indoor & safe

Climate-controlled, well-lit, supervised facility. No heat cancellations, no rain days, no parking-lot wandering.

04

Progress you can see

Fundamentals build into strategy, strategy builds into live match play. By December they're holding their own at open play.

The Curriculum

Fundamentals. Strategy. Live play.

The season is built as a progression. Early weeks lock in mechanics; the middle of the season adds the soft game and court strategy; by the end they're playing real, competitive points.

Fundamentals

Grip and ready position, serve and return, forehand and backhand groundstrokes, footwork and court movement.

The Soft Game

Dinking, resets, third-shot drops and drives — the shots that separate kids who hit hard from kids who win points.

Strategy & Match Play

Doubles positioning, partner communication, shot selection under pressure, and how to close out a game.

A Typical Session

90 minutes, structured.

4:30
Warm-up & check-in

Dynamic stretches, paddle taps, quick huddle on the day's focus.

4:40
Skill of the day

Coach demos one technique. Kids try it, get corrected, repeat it.

5:00
Drill rotation

Feed drill, partner drill, target drill — rotating stations, constant reps.

5:25
Live play, skill-based groups

Real points with the day's skill emphasized. Coaching in real time.

5:55
Cool-down & recap

What we worked on, what to practice, a high five, out the door.

~40%
Monthly vs. Drop-In

8 sessions monthly beats paying per session.

Spots are limited and sessions fill up — enrolling early is the safest way to get your kid on the court. Questions about fit, level, or cost? Reach out — we'd rather talk it through than have a kid miss the season.

Parent FAQ

What parents ask first.

What if my kid has never played pickleball before? +
Beginners are genuinely welcome — plenty of our kids arrive having never held a paddle, and we teach the rules, the swing, and the game from zero. Skill-based grouping means a first-timer isn't thrown in with kids who've been playing for years. What we look for isn't experience, it's attitude: a kid who listens to their coach, keeps trying when a drill gets hard, and actually wants to get better. This is a training program rather than an after-school drop-off, and the kids who thrive here are the ones who want to be on the court. Bring us that and we'll handle the rest.
My kid is younger than 11. Can they join? +
We hold the 11+ minimum for a reason: the pace of the drills and the level of instruction are built for that age, and a kid who isn't ready for it spends 90 minutes frustrated instead of improving. That said, we've all met the nine-year-old who's already a serious athlete. If your kid can keep up with the drills and take real coaching, reach out and we'll evaluate them — the question isn't their birthday, it's whether they can train with this group. The Academy is coaching, not childcare, so we'd rather place a younger kid where they'll actually develop: private lessons or Kids Summer Camp are the right on-ramp until they're ready.
How does the Conroe ISD PE credit work? +
ERA is an approved off-campus program, so Academy hours can count toward your student's PE requirement. The district grants the credit — you'll start with your campus counselor and submit the district's off-campus PE paperwork. Contact us and we'll send the attendance documentation they ask for. CISD-enrolled students also automatically get PRO pricing at $100/month.
Do I need to stay during class? +
Drop-off is fine at this age. The facility is staffed and supervised the whole time, and we have a comfortable lounge if you'd rather stay and watch — plenty of parents do.
What does my kid need to bring? +
Athletic shoes (non-marking court shoes preferred), a water bottle, and clothes they can move in. Loaner paddles and balls are available if they don't have their own yet — and when they're ready for their own paddle, we can recommend one at the desk.
Can we try one session before committing to a month? +
Yes — single sessions are bookable on any listed date ($20 PRO / $30 member / $35 non-member). Come to one, see how it goes, then switch to the monthly plan if it's a fit.
Who's coaching? +
Christian Tejada leads the Academy. Same coach every session, all season — which means he knows where each kid started, what they're working on, and what's next.
What happens after December? +
This season runs August 17 through December 16. Spring session dates go up on the booking page as they're set, and Kids Summer Camp covers the summer break. Kids in the Academy hear about new dates first.

Give them a sport that travels.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America. Your kid can play it for the next 60 years — and the season starts Monday, August 17.
